The spring loaded battery charging contacts are mainly used for transmission of battery charging currents but also in the transmission of signals. The great advantage of this interface is that you can transfer high currents, at a very high mechanical life of several hundred thousand cycles for the contacts. The different connection types such as SMD, THT but also crimp allow a very great freedom in designing a battery charger connection.
