Battery Probes

Beschreibung

The battery probe UEBK-10717 is another representative of spring contacts, which bear on the so-called „Through Hole Technology” (THT). The minimal grid for this contact that still guarantees a smooth operation lies at 4.45 mm.

In an entirely stress-free state, the battery probe has a total length of 9.02 mm. When moving downwards the battery probe for 7.77 mm, starting from its upper end, the lower edge of a flange ring is found. It encloses the probe’s barrel with a diameter of 3.89 mm. These 7.77 mm also mark the visible part of the spring probe when mounted onto a circuit board. The thickness of the flange lies at 0.51 mm. With the aid of a central, inner drill hole of 0.51 mm in diameter, which is embedded into the socket of the barrel, the spring contact can easily be connected to one end of a signal circuit. In addition, the outer diameter of 2.03 mm of the barrel below the flange ring that creates the socket of 1.25 mm height should be taken into consideration as minimum base height, when sketching the counter-flange. The very bottom of the described part is furthermore endued with phase of 45° to facilitate an assembling. With a value of 2.29 mm, the max diameter of the part above the flange is slightly bigger. The top of the barrel is also slightly tapered towards the plunger. The material that is used to produce the described cylindrical barrel is a gold-plated nickel-silver-alloy.

Under relaxed conditions, the spring-loaded plunger itself shows a visible height of 2.26 mm. Its diameter amounts 1.27 mm and is shaped semi-spherically at its peak. This part is made of a hardened copper-beryllium and covered in gold to improve its total conductivity. The recommended travel of the plunger of 1.70 mm is triggered with an expenditure of energy of 2.56 N, giving the battery probe a total height of 7.32 mm. With additional stress, the plunger can be pressed further down, over a distance of 2.54 mm in total.

At a closed electric circuit, this battery probe transfers a total current of 15.00 Ampere. The hereby generated contact resistance never surpasses a value of 5 mΩ.
